You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins | Thoughts

Published in: 2017
Format read in: ebook
Location: US, Ghana, India
Rating: 3/5Why I read it: I hadn't heard of this book until I was browsing through Goodreads Recommend lists. I was craving some Asian fiction and this sounded good from the synopsis. One line review: A decent picture of an Indian American life that focuses more on familial relationships and how the different generations adapt, but one that does not do their characters justice or truly focus on one theme.Who should read it: If you're a Mitali Perkins fan or want to understand more about immigrants, you may enjoy this. There's something about putting words on a page in private that makes me feel powerful in public.Thoughts:Sisters Tara and Sonia move to Flushing, New York from London when their father gets a job there. mailboxmonday This meme is hosted by Marcia @ The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks & audio books do).

I had totally forgotten about this win @ Sera's Laughing through the Chaos. After reading the many warm reviews of this book, I'd love to read it too!

Balancing Acts by Zoe Fishman

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva @ A Striped Armchair and Marg @ Reading Adventures that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.

I had a slow library week. I guess I need to get through my last loot before I head for the next pile. My hold for Push just came through.
  1. Push by Sapphire: Last time I picked this book, I was neck-deep in work with no time to read any book. I'm glad that's not the case now. I can't wait to read this.
What do you think of any of these books?

I haven't read Balancing Acts, but it's gotten fantastic reviews. I really enjoyed Push, but it's gritty and difficult to read at times. Have a great week in books!

I bought Balancing Acts a few weeks ago. I need to read it :) Have a good week!
PUSH has been on my list for a while, but it's ALWAYS checked out of my school's library. That's a good sign though.
