Published : 2021 || Format : print || Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. This is a weekly event hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.
Books completed last week
- Night Runner by Max Turner
- Embroideries by Marjane Satrapi
- The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (To be reviewed this week)
I am currently reading
Say you're one of them by Uwem Akpan:
I have just one more hour left to listen to on this audiobook. So far, I listened to the two novellas - My Parent's Bedroom and An Xmas Feast. Both were very touching, but I am not too impressed. For one thing, they seemed very detached. Chilling yes, but detached. One of my friends on Goodreads mentioned that her audiobook had one short story missing. Since I have only one more hour left to listen to, I am assuming my copy too has one story missing! Big Bummer!
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien:
This is one of my much looked-forward to reads. I had never read this book before and am loving every page of it!
My reading plans for the next week
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger: I am planning to go into this book with no expectations. Blank out The Time Traveler's Wife from my mind, along with the many reviews I have heard. I wonder if I might enjoy it then? Actually like it? It's going to be tough doing that, but I look forward to reading this book.
Daddy Long-Legs by Jean Webster: A classic! I'm just getting around to it. There have been some good reviews for this one in the Book blogosphere.
The Chopin Manuscript by Jeffery Deaver
(Audio book): 15 mystery writers came together to write this book. This one is 6 hours of audio on my audiobook.
Check out what others are reading here!
