Refreshed from a road trip | Weekly Snapshot

I'm getting an extremely late start to this post. After the long drive yesterday back home and then a late evening meetup with our neighbors, I was out of juice very fast and needed to crash. And what does Sunday morning mean after a busy week? Tis a day full of chores. Ugh.  Life We spent this past week in Boston with my brother-in-law and his wife. We all got the break we needed - we did some shopping, watched lots of TV, and enjoyed lots of family time. I started writing this post on our drive back but didn't get to schedule in advance. We opted to drive the 13-hour route so although it made for some very long days, it felt good to get out of the house and enjoy a road trip. The weather cooperated all the days in all the places we were in those days so that was a plus.  As always after a long vacation, we have come back to a lot to do. I have so much to catch up with and need to do some of that today as there's just as much to do on the work front from tomorrow.  Renovat

The Sunday Salon -- Jan 24, 2010

The Sunday Salon.com

Phew!! I'm only just getting to blog and browse online. It's been so hectic, I'm glad today is over! Of course, half of my "hectic" day went into reading. *wink* But that's reasonable! Is what I would say!

I got some good reading done last week, having read Daddy-Long-Legs and Her Fearful Symmetry. I LOVED both!! Her Fearful Symmetry is not at all like The Time Traveler's Wife, but it was a good book in its own right. Daddy-Long-Legs was a wonderful classic! Thanks to Aarti for recommending it!

I was planning to write both reviews out by tonight, but somehow that doesn't look like it will happen.

The disappointing news this week was that the audio book copy of Say you're one of them that I was listening to, contained only the 3 short stories! :-( Luckily, I picked this book last week from the library, so that's real lucky. I was expecting it to be one of those 14-day books, but it's not!

I'm still reading The Hobbit, as part of the LOTR Readalong. I'm in no particular hurry to finish it as Bilbo's adventures are definitely very engrossing to read! Next on my plate are City of Bones (finally I'll be starting on the Mortal Instruments series) and the remaining two novellas of Say you're one of them.

I also wanted to mention this award I got today from J.Kaye @ J. Kaye's Book Blog. I'm guessing you are subscribed to her blog. If not, you should follow! She has an awesome blog out there, definitely worthy of the Your Blog is soooooo Kewl! award!!

I'm passing this on to a few really kewl blogs I came across lately!
  1. A Bookish Way of Life
  2. Hotchpot Cafe
  3. Tales of Whimsy...
  4. Tea Time with Marce
Back to school again tomorrow. ::groan:: I sure don't expect to get much reading done before the next Sunday Salon post. Probably just 1 more book, in addition to the two books that I am half-way through.

Read other Sunday Salon posts.
