Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

Published : 2021   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. As we follow Talia’s treacherous journey south, we learn about how she ended up in the reform school in the first place and why half her family resides in the US. Library Loot - Feb 10, 2010

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva @ A Striped Armchair and Marg @ Reading Adventures that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

More holds of mine came through, last week! (Together, of course ::groan::). No complaints, this time, since I had been waiting for a couple of them since forever!

  1. The Help by Kathryn Stockett: I'm reading this one currently, and so far find it true to its promise!
  2. The 13th Hour by Richard Doetsch: The mystery in reverse! I'm not exactly sure when I'll read this, but it should be before the Thursday of next week, since it's due then!
  3. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs: I'm reading this with some ladies from a Goodreads club. So far, I've heard mixed reviews about this book, and unwittingly fell upon some spoilers. Anyways, I'll be starting this one too next week.
  4. City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare: I read this in one sitting, the day I picked it up. It's such a quick read in spite of the 450-odd pages. I'll be reviewing it during the weekend.
What do you think of any of these books?

Glad you're enjoying The Help - I loved it. The other titles I haven't read.

My loot this week was all holds too....and the pile gets bigger and bigger!

I only read Friday Night Knitting Club, which I'm in the minority camp of not liking too much. But I hope you enjoy it more!
So many good books! Can't wait for your review on The Help. I feel like I'm the only person that hasn't read it yet! The 13th Hour looks freaking awesome too!

I kind of gave up on the library because that's what would happen to me - all my holds would come in at once. Happy reading and keep warm!

I haven't read any of those, but many people seem to have enjoyed The Help. Hope you do, too!

I really enjoyed The Help, but I've never felt compelled to pick up the knitting one. Not in real life, nor in fiction, is knitting for me. ;)
