Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

Published : 2021   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. Spring has finally arrived in Blacksburg, and it feels really good to wake up every morning to the the bright light streaming in through the blinds! It also means no more sleeping-ins, since sunrise = wake-up time for me. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to shedding all those heavy jackets, and not having to fight the winds anymore. It's also Spring break at my university this whole week, so I say Spring arrived at the right time. It's funny because (the first day of last year's spring break also brought us our worst snow of last winter.) Not so, this time, luckily!

I don't have many plans for this week, I still have work to do at my lab, but I hope to take it lightly. Doesn't help that next week is probably going to be one of my busiest weeks this semester, so I want to try relieve my loads. Probably do a bit of Spring cleaning out here, there's a huge to-do list (been growing for months), so I plan to take some time off this week and focus on that.

I've been reading quite a bit this weekend, after 5 days of no reading. It feels good to drown into a good book, and not worry about life for a while. So I've been on a brief hiatus so far as blogging is concerned, but I'll be getting back to it from tomorrow.

I did get a few awards over the past week, but I'm not passing on any this time, since I've passed a lot of awards lately and it's a bit hard finding new blogs to pass them on to.

I received the One Lovely Blog award from Tweezle @ Just One More Paragraph! Thanks so much, Tweezle!! :)

Thanks Alayne @ The Crowded Leaf for the Beautiful Blogger Award! :)

Julie @ Turning the Pages passed me this one! Thanks Julie!! :)

That's it for now! Have a delightful Sunday, everyone! Am off to do some more reading before I get started on some boring Sunday chores.

Happy Reading and Happy Blogging!

Even though spring has sprung in the 'Burg, that doesn't mean old man winter won't make another appearance. My son is home this week, enjoying catching up on his sleep. Congratulations on your awards!
Congrats on all your awards --well deserved, and we are all smiling about the weather. the hub and I took a 45 min walk this morning; it felt great! Just a fleece shirt and thin vest.

Congrats on your awards! I totally agree that spring has arrived at just the right time.
Congratulations on the awards; they are well-deserved. Spring break sounds pretty good right now, but we have to wait until March 27!
spring is in the air over here, too. it's supposed to be 58 balmy degrees tomorrow--seeing will be believing.

i'm so tired of the cold and all the snow. cheers to summertime and reading books by the pool (or in my case, the beach).
