A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. As we follow Talia’s treacherous journey south, we learn about how she ended up in the reform school in the first place and why half her family resides in the US. Infinite Country tells the...

I ran to the post office twice last week inquiring about a package that they said wouldn't fit into my mailbox. First time, they said they couldn't find it. Now, I was sure it was a book. And them saying they couldn't find it bled my heart. Scandalous, really! I didn't even know where the package was supposed to be from. When he asked me about it, I was clueless. Luckily, they called me the next day saying they located it. Phew! Else, this post might have turned into a rant!

On a whim, I went to the university library last week, to take a break from my research, and picked these books. I've been feeling disgusted about rape over the last week. (I always feel disgusted with it, of course, but last week, the feelings just touched sky high.) So I picked these two and placed a hold on Push.

- The Color Purple by Alice Walker: This book needs no introduction. I read a quarter of the book when I was once waiting for my cousin at a bookstore. I couldn't wait to pick it up again!
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson: I spoke about this book first during last week's Friday Finds. I was glad to hear so many of you recommend it. So far, I've only been able to read a few pages, but once my current read is over, I will be picking it up!

I have The Color Purple lying around in one of my unread stacks. I haven't even seen the movie or anything.
