Family Time and Changes Galore | Weekly Snapshot

There has been so much going on over here and so much changing soon. I wish I could say I was reading a lot, but it's feeling like a luxury at the moment.

Family visitLast week, we had my husband's brother and his wife drive down from Boston and stay with us for the week. It had been months since we enjoyed anyone's close companionship for that long so we all enjoyed the time together. We were very sad to say our goodbyes. I hope we can all return to the pre-March era soon.
While they were here, we celebrated the girl's birthday. (I feel like I have been talking about birthdays on this blog for the past many weeks but we are done for the year! Next birthday is in March.) My daughter had wanted a unicorn cake, and that's exactly what we got, so that made her day. For her birthday present, we wanted to take her to a store and get her a bike but stock is incredibly low. Last week, she had just mastered riding a bike (no training wheels, she went straight from balance …

The Sunday Salon -- Apr 25, 2010

The Sunday
Salon.com

Uh-oh, where did this week go?

For the first time this semester, I worked on a Saturday. I never do usually. I've made sure my work week was busy enough with that. But yesterday, I trudged to my lab with two of my colleagues to write a paper for a conference. When the paper was done by 8 pm, I headed straight home and to my bed.

Today, I have a long list of chores to do. My Sundays always bear the brunt of an overloaded week, because of which I get highly lazy. I am already beginning to make my excuses today - for all I know, I may just go and curl up in my bed again. Some of the perks that come with student-ship. :D

Something I missed mentioning last week - I got a job 2 weeks back. :) I can say what a big relief that has been. Going from uncertainty to some solid plan for the next few years is a great feeling.

I had a good reading week, in spite of the busy work. Audio books are a real help during weeks like these. At least, my workouts didn't get a hit. Plus, I took small books to my lab with me, to read in between break. That helped too. I did manage to get my reviews up as well. I guess, in hindsight, I did have a good week, but I'm too blinded by work to see.

Let me get started on chore #1. It's nearly noon already!

Have a good Sunday, blogging and non-blogging folks! Hope you have a good week ahead!

I felt like I had a pretty crappy week too but in hindsight not so bad. Congrats on your job-I can definitely relate to that right now since I'm trying to get a new job for the next couple years of college (I've got a pretty good lead right now though, keeping my fingers crossed!). I think I might have to start getting into audio books for my work-outs too, especially for weeks like this last week was.

Congrats on the job -- I hope you tell us more about it sometime! I know how it is with busy weeks, I have a couple of busy ones coming up... audio books would be such a good idea for me, but I just have this inertia against trying them out, haha.

Sundays are just made to be lazy days. But I hope you accomplished the tasks that *had* to be done.

Thanks everyone! :)

Ash, audio books are truly a great motivator!! I guess I work out longer thanks to them!

Kathy, I'll be working as a software engineer in Lynchburg, VA. That's just 2 hours away, so I'm glad! :)

Dana, I don't like audio books much, but they are great during workouts. :)

Kristen, hear hear, sista!
