Published : 2021 || Format : print || Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. I am currently reading
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See: It has been sometime since I listened to an audio book. I just started with this one for the World Party Challenge.
Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling: Now that I finished some of the books that were taking some time, I'm back to Hogwarts. Yay!
My reading plans for the next week
Ever read a Nelson DeMille book? I loved his The General's Daughter and Plum Island. The latter introduced me to one of my favorite bookish characters, John Corey. You have to love his sass! While the John Corey series can definitely be read out of order, The Lion's Game is the second book featuring him, in chronological order.
Saving Ceecee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman is a book club read. After the plenty of good reviews that this book received, I'm keen to see what all the hype is about.
Have you ever watched the movie, The Motorcycle Diaries? I quite liked the movie and it is always interesting to see what influences a certain person to do what he later becomes famous for. The movie was done pretty well, but I didn't feel that it really convinced me about the change in Che Guevara or feel as strongly influenced as he was. I now plan to read The Motorcycle Diaries: Notes on a Latin American Journey by Che Guevara for a deeper insight. Oh, and I'm reading this for the World Party Challenge as well.
