Refreshed from a road trip | Weekly Snapshot

I'm getting an extremely late start to this post. After the long drive yesterday back home and then a late evening meetup with our neighbors, I was out of juice very fast and needed to crash. And what does Sunday morning mean after a busy week? Tis a day full of chores. Ugh.  Life We spent this past week in Boston with my brother-in-law and his wife. We all got the break we needed - we did some shopping, watched lots of TV, and enjoyed lots of family time. I started writing this post on our drive back but didn't get to schedule in advance. We opted to drive the 13-hour route so although it made for some very long days, it felt good to get out of the house and enjoy a road trip. The weather cooperated all the days in all the places we were in those days so that was a plus.  As always after a long vacation, we have come back to a lot to do. I have so much to catch up with and need to do some of that today as there's just as much to do on the work front from tomorrow.  Renovat

It's Monday! What are you reading? -- May 17, 2010

It's Monday! What are you reading this week?
This is a weekly event initially hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog, now by Sheila @ One Persons Journey through a world of Books, to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Books completed last week
- Chicken with Plums by Marjane Satrapi
- Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
- Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli
- The Arrival by Shaun Tan

Books reviewed
- Push by Sapphire
- What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman
- Climbing the Stairs by Padma Venkatraman (WOW! You should read this!)

I am currently reading

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See: Probably for only the second time since I started listening to audio books, I am totally hooked! This book is amazing! The narrator is just fabulous! I'm actually itching to listen to this whenever possible!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling: I made just a little progress with this book. I think I need to set aside my other reads and finish this one!
The Lion's Game by Nelson DeMille: Have you read any John Corey books? Because if you haven't you are missing something! This sarcastic sassy guy doesn't give a dime about what the others think of him. The reader gets tickled at every scene that John Corey is present in! I'm only about 200 pages in, but it's turning out to be as unputdownable as Plum Island.
The Motorcycle Diaries by Che Guevara: I managed to get to about 100 pages. (There's just 150 pages total) But an overdose of nonfiction burned me out. Still, I should be completing this by tonight.

My reading plans for the next week
I like to keep my next week free on the slate, so I'll probably just pick what suits my mind. I think I got through most of the books that I had planned for this month, so I'll just let my instincts choose for me now.

You had a great week. I just started listening to audio books myself. The first one I think has spoiled me though as it was a dull cast audio and amazing. The second one isn't quite as good, but the story is so I am still liking it. Have a great week

I just finished a Lisa See book as well, but I was reading Shanghai Girls. Now I am reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

I loved Snow Flower and The Secret Fan. I need to read her other books some time. I have heard a lot of good things about Saving CeeCee Honeycutt and I definitely plan to read that one this year.

I will have to check out your review of Climbing the Stairs. It looks like one I'd like.

I hope you have a great week!
