Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata | Thoughts

Published on : 2018 (translation)   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Japan One line review : Keiko would rather behave exactly as others expect her to so she doesn't disappoint "society", and so she works at the same convenience store without changing anything about her life, but very soon the same society expects her to "upgrade" (change career and find a husband), except there is no manual on how to do these.  ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   When something was strange, everyone thought they had the right to come stomping in all over your life to figure out why. I found that arrogant and infuriating, not to mention a pain in the neck. Sometimes I even wanted to hit them with a shovel to shut them up, like I did that time in elementary school. mailboxmonday This meme is hosted by Marcia @ The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks & audio books do).

Five books this week. Plus thanks to Armchair BEA, I won/got 9 other ARCs. Woohoo!

  1. Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart from Harper Collins, courtesy of TLC Book Tours. (This is a memoir about two girls who are the first girls to work at Tiffany, written from the perspective of one of them. A real feel-good book)
  2. After loving The Lumby Lines, I received the remaining four books in the series from FSB Associates - Stealing Lumby, Lumby's Bounty, The Promise of Lumby and Lumby on the Air. You can imagine my excitement when I got the full set!

What do you think of any of these books?

I think they look beautiful!

I just bought Lumby Lines a few weeks ago based on several favorable blogger reviews. I hope to read it sometime this summer.

I've got all those Lumby books too...and I really need to read at least the first one in the series! I love the covers :) And I got lucky and picked up a copy of Summer at Tiffanys at the BEA, so looks like we can exchange views on that one too :)
