Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

Published : 2021   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. As we follow Talia’s treacherous journey south, we learn about how she ended up in the reform school in the first place and why half her family resides in the US. Dewy Ramblings: I'm back!

I'm back finally! I left on Friday evening, and reached back on Monday, early morning at 3 am. So as you can imagine, I'm still feeling sluggish after the very very hectic yet amazing weekend! I visited the Capitol Hill, the Washington monument, White House and the Smithsonian museums, and I loved all that history exuding out of the city. Did you know History was my favorite subject in high school? My friends and I walked a LOT! It was tiring, but I feel so elated now, I think we saw so much more that way. I'll write a more detailed weekend getaway post (hopefully with pictures) this Sunday, since right now, I would love to just do -nothing-!

I have a lot of posts to catch up with. I may take advantage of Google Reader's "Mark all as Read", but I would love to see how you all fared at the Bloggiesta - How did you do?

Also, what else did you do this weekend that I missed?

It's World Cup time when the World stops, lol, doesn't seem to affect the blogging world, hahahhaha

I am a France fan so less reading than usual here.

Glad you had a fun time away.
Welcome back! I'm glad you had a good time!

I hate to admit it, but I used Mark All As Read for the first time at the end of Bloggiesta. I had gotten so far behind, and I knew that 1000+ had to be over 2000, so I bit the bullet and did it. I felt a teensy bit of guilt, but mostly I felt relief to be starting fresh. I say go for it if you need to.
So glad you had a wonderful time in DC; it's such a great city! I am in London so blogging is going to be a bit difficult, but I am going to try.

Marce, isn't that so? I would expect people to drop everything and watch the WC! But no, blogging goes on, sigh... I support France too, btw! :)

Jen, I feel guilty about using the Mark All As Read. But if I feel overwhelmed, I am all for it! Hopefully, I plan to spend all day today weeding through the posts!

Helen, Have a great time in London. It is one of my definitely-should-see places!!

Totally hit "Mark all as read!" That hulking reader is so stressful and you know we'll all have posts up again in a day or two!
