The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. Happy Fathers' Day to all the wonderful dads out there, and especially to my darling dad who I miss so much!

I just woke up bleary-eyed some time back. Though it's past 10 am, Sundays are usually sleep-in days for me. Moreover, I sat up late night reading Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld with Kai of Fiction State of Mind. I LOVED Leviathan and also enjoyed reading it with Kai and tweeting about it. This is the first time I did a read and tweet along with someone, and it was so much fun, I can't wait to do it again! That Kai is in CA and I am in VA, only made it so much more novel.

Our apartment complex had a power-cut last night for close to two hours during a nasty and sudden thunderstorm. It was quite annoying, but luckily I had just finished cooking for dinner, so all I had to do was sit near the patio, stare outside and eat. I would have enjoyed it more if I was not stuck right in the middle of a suspenseful scene in Leviathan, when the power-cut happened. (You know that feeling, right?) Last time this happened, the power didn't come back on until the next day. That was in 2008. Luckily, it wasn't that bad this time. I spent most of the time listening to the 9th (out of 12) disc of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Lifesaver, indeed!

After a fantastic weekend in DC (I blogged about it here), I spent most of last week catching up on my sleep and trying yet failing to get back to graduate work. I finally managed that on Thursday, but by then the next weekend excitement kicks in! So I can't say I accomplished much. I'm spending today to type up all my reviews, so that I don't have to do much of that this week. We'll see how that goes. Since I missed out on Bloggiesta, I may spend next weekend making some cosmetic changes to my blog, depending on how well my week goes. Then again, I may lazy out and shelve that task. There's a reason why we do it as a community!

Hope your Sunday is going great! Happy reading and happy blogging!

Losing power totally stinks, especially when it's too dark to read.

When I was a kid our power would go out all the time and it, of course, always went out when I was engrossed in a book under my blanket. I would always get so frustrated but at least I had a flashlight.

Nice idea - to read and tweet with another reader. Have fun! Here's my Sunday Salon.

Kathy, that definitely stinks. Esp when you are so eager to know what happens next. I tried reading with a flashlight, but it was too much bother.

Ash, isn't it annoying when the power goes exactly when it shouldn't? I was so frustrated last night.

Harvee, it's definitely fun! You should try that!
I am so glad you enjoyed Levithan. I'll have to add it to my TBR list. I didn't get around to a Sunday post this week...

It's great that the power wasn't off too long. Leviathan is on my TBR list and I've read nothing but positive reviews on it. Have a great day!
