Looking forward to the holidays | Weekly Snapshot

This coming week is a short week at work. One that I've been looking forward to for a while, if mainly to break the monotony of work + life at home and just have some life, movies, and fun.  Currently It looks like this week is going to be a very dull one in weather - cloudy, rainy sometimes, snowy towards the end of the week - very typical for winter but dull nevertheless. This is the season that has felt depressing to me ever since my first pregnancy - until then, I loved winter through and through. So, the extra restrictions that is the signature of 2020 is going to make this winter a dud. I think I'll just start planning for post-winter.  We wanted to go visit family in Boston but eventually, like many others, decided against it. Maybe there will be a vaccine available soon, and we can slowly start claiming some normalcy back. I don't know how normal it will be though - it's still too early to know what post-vaccine is going to be like.  Reading I was right in picki

It's Monday! What are you reading? -- September 6, 2010

It's Monday! What are you reading this week?
This is a weekly event initially hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog, now by Sheila @ One Persons Journey through a world of Books, to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Books completed
-  The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (Definitely WOW quality! Thanks to all of you who suggested this book to me)

Books reviewed

Books on my nightstand

The Passage by Justin Cronin: I'm really, truly, sincerely glad to report that I finally started reading this book. I'm just over 150 pages in, but I am enjoying it so far - Justin Cronin's writing is really engaging. It's not exactly spine-chilling so far, nevertheless, having been reading this book at bedtime the first night, I woke up within 20 minutes from a really scary nightmare. I usually sleep with the blinds open so that I don't oversleep in the mornings, but after the nightmare, I shut all the blinds because I kept feeling that someone was standing on the patio. Brrrr!
Finny by Justin Kramon: I really hate it when deadlines creep up on me. I'm not the kind of person who likes doing anything at the last minute, but many a time, that's just what happens. I have to put up a review of this book by Wednesday, so I'm going to pick this book up right away. I'm at least back to my usual reading routine, thanks to The Secret Life of Bees.

I am doing cartwheels because you liked the Secret Life of Bees!
The Passage does that it holds your interest...never dull... always steady and then you wait - BAM! It will take you and not let go.

I'm just saying... :)

I've been hearing so many good things I've been hearing about The Passage and it makes me eager to pick it up, but where could I squeeze it in? Besides its huge, from what I remember. Maybe I'll have to figure something out. :)

Good luck on the Wednesday review! I think that's why I've started to back away from the tours, I just can't stand the deadline aspect of it with something I want to really enjoy. But I've heard good things about Finny, so I hope you love it!
