A Birthday Weekend | Weekly Snapshot

Happy Independence Day to those in the US!

CelebratingMy birthday was this past Friday, which was a day off at my workplace to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. We didn't do anything big this time. The husband and the girl baked and decorated me a birthday cake, and that was delicious. We also ordered takeout for lunch, beyond that, we didn't do anything major, unlike past birthdays, when we would at least hang outside. July is also when the girl is celebrating her birthday (in another couple of weeks). Earlier this year, I had my eyes set on a bouncy play place to celebrate her birthday with her friends. Sadly, that's scratched off obviously but I'd still like to see if there's something special we can do. She does want a unicorn cake that she once saw at a local bakery so we'll be ordering that.

It's Monday! What are you reading? -- September 13, 2010

It's Monday! What are you reading this week?
This is a weekly event initially hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog, now by Sheila @ One Persons Journey through a world of Books, to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Books completed
-  Finny by Justin Kramon

Books reviewed

Books on my nightstand

The Passage by Justin Cronin: Ever so slowly, I am moving through this book. I wish I could finish this sooner, but reading the same book for so long makes me miserable.
Stealing Lumby by Gail Fraser: The first Lumby book, Lumby Lines, was a really easy and cozy read that I enjoyed more than I expected to. After a long time, I picked up the second Lumby book, Stealing Lumby, and this book has the same effect on me!
The Game On! Diet by Krista Vernoff and Az Ferguson: Technically, I should be done with this book by now, since I'm doing this game this month. But I still have a couple of the less important chapters to go.

I get frustrated when a book takes so long to finish too so I totally understand. You need to get the audio version to listen to in your car!

I haven't started on some of my chunksters because I have so much catching up to do and if I get bogged down in a humungous book I won't accomplish anything LOL

The Passage is supposed to be worth the time though :-)
Have a great week and happy reading!

I'm looking forward to The Passage but I understand getting behind on everything else during a big book.
