Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

Published : 2021   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. As we follow Talia’s treacherous journey south, we learn about how she ended up in the reform school in the first place and why half her family resides in the US. Infinite Country tells the story of her family through the other protagonist, El

It's Monday! What are you reading? -- September 20, 2010

It's Monday! What are you reading this week?
This is a weekly event initially hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog, now by Sheila @ One Persons Journey through a world of Books, to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Books completed
-  Game On! Diet by Krista Vernoff and Az Ferguson

News from over here
So I didn't post any reviews over the last week, what with BBAW and all. Instead, here's what happened over here this past week

Books on my nightstand
This week, I'm hoping to get through a big stack of books. I took care of a lot of distracting items over the weekend, so I hope to feel less pressured over the week. I'm doing the Fall Catch-up readathon, so fingers crossed! Here's what my week looks like.

The Passage by Justin Cronin: I didn't really have time to pick this up last week, but hey today starts a new week! I don't want to get bogged in a chunkster, so I'll take this one slow even if it takes me a month to finish it.
Stealing Lumby by Gail Fraser: I have just a few mores pages to go, but isn't this book delightful! I am not enjoying it so much as the first Lumby book, Lumby Lines. But Lumby is still as quirky as I remember it!
Moloka'i by Alan Brennert: I'm reading this one with a few buddies from one of my Goodreads groups. I've heard so much of this one and Brennert's other book, Honolulu. I'm especially in love with this cover!

YAY for Game On Diet! Hang in there with The Passage - it is worth it :)
I so lagged with BBAW! The week was insane and I didn't post once, about anything. Ugh. Once this new website training is over (this Wed.) things may get better.... or perhaps crazier as the staff begins to work on the site and has questions.

The Lumby books sounds like a lot of fun. Lumby Lines is already on my wishlist.
This all look like great reads. I can relate on the "chuckster" tackled one for a couple of weeks and it started so good, by about page 350 I wanted to throw it at a wall. The last chapter was good. I forced myself to finish but felt like I wasted time reading 300 pages that I'll never get back.

The Passage looks good, but I only read one book at a time and that one looks like it could take an eternity! :D I hope you enjoy it.
I agree, the Passage looks good but soooo long. I'm saving it for the holidays when I have more time to read.

I know what you mean about BBAW, it completely messed up my schedule of things, reading as well. But it was so much fun! I'm really interested in reading The Passage at some point, I just don't have any idea when I'll ever fit it in. Ugh.

Have a fabulous reading week and if you get a second stop by There’s A Book to take a look at what I’ve got planned for the week! :)
