A birthday week and more gardening | Weekly Snapshot

Happy Ascension Day! Happy Memorial Day! Happy Africa Day! No matter what you are celebrating this weekend (or not), have fun and stay safe!

The Boy Turned TwoThe little guy turned two this week. He sort of understood that it was a special day and that he was the star of the show. He took a lot of pleasure in all the birthday songs that his family sang to him - he also added some of his own tunes to the mix. Honestly, some days it feels so hard to believe that he is not a baby anymore. With my daughter, I felt the passing of each day and her birthdays appeared to be following the Martian calendar - they felt very far apart. But this guy has blazed through the past two years, I almost feel that I've missed months in between. I'm worried that if I pinch myself and blink twice, I may catch him packing for college. Yikes!
Happy birthday, little guy! May you continue to have fun breaking apart things - whether that's your take-apart truck or your sister's carefully built Leg…

Kicking off the Fall Catch-Up Readathon

Just got back at home, and I'm itching to read for a change. During this time, I usually pick my laptop and spend hours browsing, and before I know it, *chime, chime*, it's time to sleep! I already have my posts for tomorrow ready. So the only distraction I'm going to have today and the rest of this week is my busy Google Reader, which is fine by me. I need a distraction anyways.

If you want to join in, you can still do, as this runs all week. Just go to The True Book Addict here to sign up or here to put up your starting post. Since I'll be getting just around 4 hours each day, I'm not going to get too ambitious. I'll just read what suits me. I'm going to pick The Passage by Justin Cronin and alternate it with Stealing Lumby by Gail Fraser. Some time this week, I'll probably start Ulysses by James Joyce and Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. So there!

I'm always impressed with everyone that is able to do these readathons! Good luck!!
Glad you're joining us! I have The Passage, but haven't had time to reading it yet so I loaned it to my dad. I'm keeping a chunkster on the sidelines myself, Under the Dome, just in case...to break up the monotony. Hope you have fun reading this week!

Coffee and a Book Chick, I usually don't do readathons, because I can't mess up my sleep. But this time I'm going in because 1. I don't have to NOT sleep, and 2. I need to spruce up my reading.

Michelle, Under the Dome is another chunkster I need to read, umm, maybe next year?
