Refreshed from a road trip | Weekly Snapshot

I'm getting an extremely late start to this post. After the long drive yesterday back home and then a late evening meetup with our neighbors, I was out of juice very fast and needed to crash. And what does Sunday morning mean after a busy week? Tis a day full of chores. Ugh.  Life We spent this past week in Boston with my brother-in-law and his wife. We all got the break we needed - we did some shopping, watched lots of TV, and enjoyed lots of family time. I started writing this post on our drive back but didn't get to schedule in advance. We opted to drive the 13-hour route so although it made for some very long days, it felt good to get out of the house and enjoy a road trip. The weather cooperated all the days in all the places we were in those days so that was a plus.  As always after a long vacation, we have come back to a lot to do. I have so much to catch up with and need to do some of that today as there's just as much to do on the work front from tomorrow.  Renovat

It's Monday! What are you reading? -- October 18, 2010

It's Monday! What are you reading this week?
This is a weekly event initially hosted by J. Kaye at J. Kaye's Book Blog, now by Sheila @ One Persons Journey through a world of Books, to celebrate what you are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Books completed
-  Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

News from over here
Although I only finished one book last week, I ended up beginning three others, so that right now, I am in the middle of 5 books. It could be a while before I finish all of them, but I'm guessing that will happen all at once. I also got two reviews up.

-  Russell Wiley Is Out to Lunch by Richard Hine
-  Blankets by Craig Thompson (You should read this one! One amazing read and on my WOW list!)

I also have a giveaway of Hush, Hush and Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick going on, so if you are interested, head on over there.

Books on my nightstand
So, there are five books stacked on my nightstand right now. Or rather, 3 books and my nook, Hobbes. But I'll be getting through only three of them this week.

Planning to Live by Heather Wardell: I started this one yesterday, and while different from my usual reads, I found that I was really enjoying it a lot. It is a fast-read, and at this point, I would say that it is chick-lit, but that wouldn't be entirely right, because the protagonist is also going through a phase of self-introspection, at the toughest site possible - at an accident site - her own accident.
Panopticon by David Bajo: I started this at work one day on my break, and it was a mistake, because I truly struggled to put it down. This book was definitely gripping and a fast read. I don't want to say much right now - if I finish it this week, I'll be reviewing it soon. Besides, this book releases tomorrow, so you may want to check it out soon.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling: I'm already saying sigh. Because I've reached Book 5, which is on the other side of halfway. Besides, the first part of the last movie is getting released in a month (for which I am tremendously excited, although I criticize all the Harry Potter movies afterward). I'm already wondering when I will re-read these books again (I do it every year, so I'm sure to be doing this next year).

I think Panopticon will have to go on my wishlist.

Last week was a nice mixture of research, picture books and reading for fun. Here's what I'm reading this week.
I am doing the wave over here about your Harry Potter accomplishments! Woo hoo! Have a super week!

I clicked over to BN and read the description of Panopticon. That sounds really good. Hope it ends well.

I'm glad to see Panopticon is so good - the author lives in South Carolina.
Good week Aths! I tried to get Blankets at my local store but they were sold out. I should have ordered it....
