My other obsession

I have an obsession. Other than anything to do with books, I mean.

I'm obsessed with organization. It doesn't matter what the subject is - it can be organizing my bookshelf, my goodreads catalog, my reading lists, my to-do list, my career, my home, my possessions, my wardrobes/closets, etc. When I was moving out of Blacksburg and trying to pack my belongings, I was still looking at every book I owned and making sure they are cataloged in my Goodreads library. On the last day. Uh-uh. My friend had to stop me from this major distraction, considering that I still had a long way to go, and had not much time left before I had to vacate.


Lately, I've been thinking furniture. I mean, obsessing furniture. And home decor. When I moved in last year, I bought just the bare minimum, so as not to starve my bank accounts. Now though, I've been considering adding more. Even though it's been more than 6 months since I graduated, I still tend to think as a grad student sometimes. Grad thinking = minimal lifestyle. Clearly, the two clash violently. Much as I don't want to buy something I don't have necessary use for (esp since I stay alone), at the same time, I don't like living like a hermit.

I've been browsing around home decor and furniture websites, looking for a new TV, a new living room set, nightstand, exercise bike and a bookshelf. Being more of an online shopper, I'm thankful I don't feel the necessity to see something before I buy it, much as I know it's not a helpful habit. So when CSN approached me to do a review of one of their products, I jumped right in. They do have a good selection of whatever I'm looking for, so that's a great starting place.

I'm most inclined to get an exercise bike. Being a fitness freak, I've been feeling very upset that my morning regimen has been disrupted thanks to my late-to-bed-late-to-rise routine since winter started. Forget evenings, I'd rather grab a cup of coffee than head to the gym. The other alternative I have is a bookcase. The one I have is already overflowing. But, at the same time, I'd rather wait for my books to reach double-bookcase capacity, than buy a new one and find an excuse to buy books.

I'm also considering buying some patio furniture for the summer, because that's one of my favorite places to read. I particularly like this round chair I saw at All Modern, and would like to add a coffee table to go with it.

All in all, looks like I have some browsing and deciding to do. It's hard to hold back and settle for just one thing. Do you have any obsessions other than books, of course?
