Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

Published : 2021   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Colombia ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   What was it about the country that kept everyone hostage to its fantasy? The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. As we follow Talia’s treacherous journey south, we learn about how she ended up in the reform school in the first place and why half her family resides in the US. CSN review: A sneak peek at my new TV stand

A couple of months back, I mentioned how CSN contacted me asking if I wanted to review one of their products. As I looked through their extensive catalog - an activity someone obsessed with home decor would spend hours on -- it got me thinking about how obsessed I was with organizing anything. So when I tried to decide what to check out from CSN, I found I had to change my requirements from "This will look good over here" to "This will be great value to my home" to "This is something I want to buy" to eventually "This is something I really really need". I am typically subscribed to several deals on various items so that I can buy them - except that I don't. I hate spending money just because I want something, and yet I really do want that, ya know?

So after putting off the task of selecting something I won't regret buying -- I wanted a bookshelf (well, who doesn't?) but I couldn't justify buying that because all my books fit into the shelves I had at the moment (they don't now, anymore) -- I decided to wait a week because Super Bowl weekend was coming (and with it the TV sales) and I had plans to buy a TV (not to watch the Super Bowl at all). Eventually after purchasing a TV, I found I finally had one item to fit in the "This is something I really really need" category -- a TV stand. Yippee!

By now, you should have guessed that I did end up spending days and days deciding on a TV stand. Who ever said narrowing down your choices would help? After drooling over this big totally awesome TV stand that unfortunately would require me to shell a lot of money (though worth it, I'm sure), and toying with this minimalistic model and this sturdy looking one, I finally decided to go for this chocolate brown TV stand with two shelves and two drawers. One thing I've come to realize is that the more storage space, the better, since I do find that I have a lot of stuff that I shelve in my living room itself.

Since I didn't take any pictures as I was assembling, I only have this finished product up here.

As you can see, I've already shelved the homeless books on the stand - who cares about movies when there are books. Well, that's not true, but the few DVDs I owned were basking happily in my bedroom, so I didn't bother to disturb their sojourn.

As for the TV stand itself, I love it! I was worried if I will bond well with it, but it's just perfect. It's the right size for my TV and the number of shelves are perfect for what I have already stocked up there. I love putting my books in there for now - they are mostly library books. When I placed my order on CSN, they initially mentioned that it will take at least 10 days for the product to get shipped out. But within a few hours of making my purchase, they sent me an email saying it will be shipped out the very next day. Yay! Assembling it was not too hard, but it was heavy of course. Luckily my dad and brother helped set it up and even place the TV on top before I even reached home after work that day! Overall, I'm really pleased with this stand.

I received a $100 credit from CSN stores to purchase a product to review. I coughed up the rest of the dough from my own piggy bank.

I loved the stand more in "person" than on the website. I'm glad it turned out good!
