Planning for Summer Reading | Weekly Snapshot

Here we are - almost at the halfway point of the year. I still remember starting the year with so many plans, and then came a vicious virus to stump everyone. I'm reaching that point where I'm beginning to miss the life that was, while also feeling very unsure about the life that will be.

Last WeekJust another week around here - many more to come, I guess. Last week, a few of the places we frequented pre-virus have reached out saying that they are reopening. While I'm glad they don't need to shutter their doors anymore, we are still opting to stay home as much as possible. There are going to be people outside who can't avoid it, so if we can afford the luxury (or curse, however you want to call it) of staying indoors, then we'll take it. One of the places that reopened is our gym. It's the one place where I can't imagine what social distancing will be like but they are running only half-class sizes for now. Since the lockdown started, the time I spend on…

A late Monday Salon: Three weeks of madness and excitement

Hello readers and bloggers! It sure has been a long time since I posted something. Anything. I'd been feeling pretty bad about neglecting my blog but it has been a hectic few weeks over here. The husband and I moved a week ago to our new place, following days of packing, sorting, tossing and more packing. While we managed to unpack most of the boxes, there's still the last few left - they usually turn out to be the boxes whose items I don't know what to do with yet or don't want to deal with yet. So much for a structured packing this time. There's still a ton to do around here, but we've mostly settled down and are trying to enjoy the new feeling of having our own digs. I'd been thinking of slowly easing back into blogging, but if I'm lucky, I may just barge right back in. It sure feels wonderful to be able to catch up on my "other" life after such a long time.

Although I haven't made any huge dent in my reading pile, I did manage to get through some good books. I just finished reading Neal Shusterman's Unwholly yesterday (thanks to Helen for bringing it to my notice). I loved the first of this trilogy (Unwind), and although Unwholly didn't pack as much punch, I still loved it. I'm also in between The Ask and the Answer (which is turning out to be far more engaging than its prequel) and am listening to Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer during my now much longer commute to and from work. Audiobooks never quite used to work for me but I wanted to put the long commuting to some good use. Which was when I remembered that of the only two audiobooks I ever truly enjoyed, one was nonfiction and the other was a classic. So it looks like I'll be reading listening to a lot more nonfiction now.

Mark All as Read is probably again going to be a good friend in need, so what have I missed in the blog world?

Exciting that you are almost completely settled hon, very excited. I found this year many bloggers have slowed down but everyone is still at it in there own way. I'm currently rethinking how to deal with blogging next year, i'm still loving it, just finding a better balance.

I am so glad you are enjoying Unwind and Unwholly! I look forward to reading the third book in the trilogy when it comes out. And, congratulations on your house! That is so much work, but also so exciting.

I'm surprised too that I read anything. But I'm glad I could read something. It helped make the move less stressful.
I miss you too! Would this be a bad time to encourage you to try an audio. It would make unpacking soooo much nicer. ;)

I am also having a hard time finding the time to read, and listening to a bunch of audiobooks. It's the blogging that's getting me. I just can't find enough time to do it properly. I am glad to hear that you and the hubs are loving the new house, Sit awhile and get comfy, We will all be here when you get back.

I have definitely slowed down! It bugs me sometimes but the reasons it slowed down are good stuff that makes me happy so then I feel okay by it. But wouldn't it be wonderful if we had more time at our disposal?

Thank you! It is a lot of work, but it's also very exciting.

I'm also waiting for the third book in the trilogy. I hope we don't have to wait long!

I am trying one now. :) In the car. I don't think I can listen to an audio while working. Either the work or the audio will stop progressing. :D

Yeah, I sure need to find a balance at my end. Blogging, catching up on blogs and reading are hard enough to do everyday or even almost every day.

I'm doing most of that right now - the enjoying thing. :) It's lovely trying to discover new reading nooks.

I always try to pack boxes in an organized way when I move, but inevitably I end up with random boxes of stuff that I just feel like I should throw away :) Good luck with your last few boxes!

Thanks! I did most of the packing in an organized manner, but the last few days went downhill. Lol. But at least it's over now.
