The Sunday Salon: Escapes and Frauds

The Sunday
Salon.com

My last Sunday Salon was posted about three months ago. No wonder I don't remember much about what I used to post. Life's slowly getting into a routine over here - we have family staying with us right now, so it's pretty much a full house - which makes me thankful for all the extra space and rooms we have here.

Rue, our dog, is also very thankful for the extra space and most importantly, all the extra doors, which means more ways for her to run out of the house. She has already run out about 6-8 times in two weeks, and if you know anything about Jack Russells, you know how hard it is to catch them once they decide running is more fun than strolling. Thank goodness she's got a white coat, or else we would be looking at every dark mound that we see on the way, trying to figure out which one of those is an excited furry thing having the time of her life. These dogs, ~shaking my head~.

This past week, I found out that two of my cards had been defrauded. I was shocked to find a few unfamiliar transactions worth almost $400 on one of my credit cards plus even more surprised that a Macy's gift card had been completely used up more than seven months ago. While the transactions on the credit card have been sorted out, I'm still waiting on seeing what Macy's will do. I really hope they replace my card soon - I could use it now for some much-needed house expenses.

It's a lazy dreary Sunday out here (the kind I love) and we all just had a late breakfast of some yummy baked egg muffins. I hope to get some blogging done today and maybe some reading as well. The following week will be my last work week of the year and although we don't have any major plans yet for the holidays, it will be refreshing to stay away from work for a good ten days!

No work for 10 days sounds like a dream, enjoy every moment. Eek on the cards, credit co are so good but the wait is torture.
Everyone seems to be blogging less, life has really taken over in 2012, hope everyone including me has more time in the new year.
Happy Holidays Aths and enjoy the new home.

That's awful about your cards. It's good that you've found out about it. 10 days work-free?! That sounds like endless possibilities. Have a good week.

Thanks Marce! 10 days at home or anywhere but work sounds fabulous to me as well! I can't wait for the holidays to start.

Thanks! I can't wait for the holidays to start!

I've never heard of that happening to a gift card. I wonder how they will handle that one. I've gotten cards before that were never activated but to think that now they are hitting gift cards too. Wow.

I had a similar thing happen to our bank card a few months ago, and was able to recoup the losses, thank god. The thieves actually used the card to purchase shoes, which came to MY house. And boy what shoes they were! I didn't know that there was a subscription service that you could order the shoe of the month from, but when they arrived (size 10 sky blue patent leather heels) I thought it was kind of weird. I hope that you also recoup your losses, and that you enjoy your time with family.

Me neither. That was a little too shocking for me. I'm trying to remember when it ever left my hand and just can't remember anything like that happening.

My, that is hilarious that they sent the shoes to your house. I'm glad you were able to sort the issue out. I hope Macys come through soon.

What a nightmare about the credit cards! The companies really are good about not charging us for the fraud stuff though, thank goodness!

Athira / Aths said...

Yeah, that's something I am glad for. Or else people will end up getting poorer for no fault of theirs.

Oh my, that's awful about your credit cards! I haven't had that happen to me, knock on wood, but it sounds very frustrating. I'm glad the company is taking care of at least one right away.

Athira / Aths said...

It certainly is!

Yeah, I'm glad the companies don't just say 'Oops, not our fault'. I hope to hear from Macy's soon.
