You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins | Thoughts

Published in: 2017
Format read in: ebook
Location: US, Ghana, India
Rating: 3/5Why I read it: I hadn't heard of this book until I was browsing through Goodreads Recommend lists. I was craving some Asian fiction and this sounded good from the synopsis. One line review: A decent picture of an Indian American life that focuses more on familial relationships and how the different generations adapt, but one that does not do their characters justice or truly focus on one theme.Who should read it: If you're a Mitali Perkins fan or want to understand more about immigrants, you may enjoy this. There's something about putting words on a page in private that makes me feel powerful in public.Thoughts:Sisters Tara and Sonia move to Flushing, New York from London when their father gets a job there. A change of attire for my blog!

Phew! After plenty of trials, I dressed up my blog in a formal outfit, rather than a casual one. I realized I get tired of colorful layouts faster than the no-frills layouts. So at least for a while, this is it for me. Thanks to my best friend, Piyush for helping me choose! I'm pretty happy with this one, but I *might* change the header image sometime in the future, though I'm not going to focus obsessively on it.

Other than that, I did make a few minor superficial changes (I know I should have participated in the Bloggiesta, but well, better late than never!) I'm glad I got this done, since if I get bugged by something, that something unnecessarily takes rent in my head till I get it done. Also, I've decided to add a WOW factor to the books I read, which I will tag to those books that, well, make me go wow, irrespective of their ratings!

Anyways, what do you think? Does the layout feel clearer and nicer than it was? Or did I confuse you more?

This looks great! I've been struggling with my layout desires lately as well. I really like what you've done here.
I love the new layout! It's simple and easy to navigate, which are things that I love to see when visiting blogs.
