Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata | Thoughts

Published on : 2018 (translation)   ||    Format : print   ||    Location : Japan One line review : Keiko would rather behave exactly as others expect her to so she doesn't disappoint "society", and so she works at the same convenience store without changing anything about her life, but very soon the same society expects her to "upgrade" (change career and find a husband), except there is no manual on how to do these.  ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆   When something was strange, everyone thought they had the right to come stomping in all over your life to figure out why. I found that arrogant and infuriating, not to mention a pain in the neck. Sometimes I even wanted to hit them with a shovel to shut them up, like I did that time in elementary school. But I recalled how upset my sister had been when I’d casually mentioned this to her before and kept my mouth shut. A change of attire for my blog!

Phew! After plenty of trials, I dressed up my blog in a formal outfit, rather than a casual one. I realized I get tired of colorful layouts faster than the no-frills layouts. So at least for a while, this is it for me. Thanks to my best friend, Piyush for helping me choose! I'm pretty happy with this one, but I *might* change the header image sometime in the future, though I'm not going to focus obsessively on it.

Other than that, I did make a few minor superficial changes (I know I should have participated in the Bloggiesta, but well, better late than never!) I'm glad I got this done, since if I get bugged by something, that something unnecessarily takes rent in my head till I get it done. Also, I've decided to add a WOW factor to the books I read, which I will tag to those books that, well, make me go wow, irrespective of their ratings!

Anyways, what do you think? Does the layout feel clearer and nicer than it was? Or did I confuse you more?

I love the new layout! It's simple and easy to navigate, which are things that I love to see when visiting blogs.
