Refreshed from a road trip | Weekly Snapshot

I'm getting an extremely late start to this post. After the long drive yesterday back home and then a late evening meetup with our neighbors, I was out of juice very fast and needed to crash. And what does Sunday morning mean after a busy week? Tis a day full of chores. Ugh.  Life We spent this past week in Boston with my brother-in-law and his wife. We all got the break we needed - we did some shopping, watched lots of TV, and enjoyed lots of family time. I started writing this post on our drive back but didn't get to schedule in advance. We opted to drive the 13-hour route so although it made for some very long days, it felt good to get out of the house and enjoy a road trip. The weather cooperated all the days in all the places we were in those days so that was a plus.  As always after a long vacation, we have come back to a lot to do. I have so much to catch up with and need to do some of that today as there's just as much to do on the work front from tomorrow.  Renovat

Teaser Tuesdays -- Feb 16, 2010

Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

I finally got started on The 13th Hour. Before I share the teaser, I want to mention an interesting specific of the book. There are only 13 chapters in this book (338 pages), but the interesting fact is the book starts at chapter 12, and counts down to chapter 1, finally ending on chapter 13. That feels to me a curious structure for the book, and I'm interested to see how the author pulls off the going-to-the-past stunt in one hour increments to change something that happened, which, as we know from the experience of reading time travel books, is a violation of time traveling, as the past has never been subject to change (except maybe in LOST ::wink::).

"And they were a spot-on match. So you're going to need to be real clear as to how your fingerprints and only your fingerprints are on this gun."

Nick sat there, his mind spinning. He had never seen this gun, let alone touched it.

~ Pg. 17, The 13th Hour by Richard Doetsch.

Terrific teaser -- I love that line: "You're going to need to be real clear as to how your fingerprints and only your fingerprints are on this gun." It would be tough to talk your way out of that one!
