Infinite Country by Patricia Engel | Thoughts

The previous month, on its own soil, an American man went to his job at a plant and gunned down fourteen coworkers, and last spring alone there were four different school shootings. A nation at war with itself, yet people still spoke of it as some kind of paradise.. Thoughts : Infinite Country follows two characters - young Talia, who at the beginning of this book, escapes a girl’s reform school in North Colombia so that she can make her previously booked flight to the US. Before she can do that, she needs to travel many miles to reach her father and get her ticket to the rest of her family. Off for a week!

Happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah to all who celebrate it!

I will be away from the blog until next Wednesday as we are heading down to Miami and Key West this weekend. It will be interesting to step into the plane from 30 F weather and step out into 70 F weather. Not that I am looking forward to it. I love winter any day!

Still, it's a vacation, a break from work for 6 days, a chance to relax, enjoy Cuban cuisine, and read some books. These are what I've packed into my bag/kindle and cannot wait to dig into!

As usual, I am taking more books than I usually finish even in a month but who's to say I shouldn't be optimistic? Or overly optimistic. I may well read Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, simply because I've heard way too much about it and it's due back at the library soon. Which one would you choose to read?

I loved Kindred! That's the only book I read on my vacatopm. I wish I had read it sooner for #Diversiverse. I still cannot get the book out of my head and cannot believe it took me so long to get to it.
